Who Made God?
Edgar Andrews, EP Books, 2009

Who Made God?
is a witty, stimulating and very readable explanation of the discoveries of modern science, exhibiting the marvels of God's creation and exposing the foolishness of attempts to explain the universe in terms of evolution.  We think it is one of the most important books published in the last 10 years: parents, teachers and senior students cannot fail to benefit from and enjoy reading it!

Edgar Andrews does more than engagingly entertain while silencing on its own terms the challenge of atheistic scepticism to answer the question, "Who made God?"  He does more than make important and obtuse concepts of modern science delightfully comprehensible in memorable imagery of daily life.  He points readers to the truth and sufficiency of the Bible and faith in Christ as a framework - the only adequate framework - in which to think.

Here is a readable and informative response by an internationally respected scientist to the flood of new-atheism's print and broadcast literature claiming that evolution explains everything.

Big Truths for Young Hearts
Bruce Ware, Crossway, 2009

Guest Review by Joe Fleener,
Lecturer at The Shepherd's Bible College, Havlock North

Several months ago we began reading Bruce Ware’s excellent book for our “Morning Family Worship.”

The book is divided into 10 chapters. Each chapter contains on average six sections. Each section is on average 4 pages long.

We were able then to read one section each morning after breakfast, before I left for work. In general we do this on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday.

The book is essentially a Systematic Theology for young people! The chapters are: 1) “God’s Word and God’s Own Life as God” 2) God as Three in One 3) Creator and Ruler of All 4) Our Human Nature and Our Sin 5) Who Jesus Is 6) The Work That Jesus Has Done 7) The Holy Spirit 8) Our Great Salvation 9) The Church of Jesus Christ 10) What Will Take Place in the End

It has been great to read through this together as a family. My wife & I have found ourselves challenged and our thoughts on various theological points clarified. Ware writes with clarity while at the same time using extremely helpful illustrations. Our children (age 5, 7, & 8) have listened intently (most of the time)) and have been stimulated in their own thinking. Many of the reading have generated excellent questions and points of discussion.
